Group Analysis


Positives

I think that my group did a good job pulling together to complete the first playable demo. I think that we are all very happy with how the game is turning out so far. 

Negatives

I wish that I personally had accomplished more this week. I ended up getting stuck on the UI design and I am still not sure that it is complete. I hope to accomplish more in the upcoming week.

Up Next

This upcoming week I plan on finishing and implementing these UI elements. I think the biggest challenge will be establishing the aesthetic that we want. Once that is done I hope to create UI for the pause menu and any UI elements that still need to be created.

April 23, 2020 Rex Christian PPJ # 1 Player and Enemy ship models - 1 hour Terrain Assets - 1 hour Samples Enemy Drone: Player Ship: Mountain: Positive : The group communicated very efficiently and had no issues distributing work and clarifying who was doing what. We simply all got together in a discord call, made a plan, and got to work. We've also been continuously exchanging ideas and experimenting in unity throughout the week. Negative : We met pretty late last week and probably could've had more time to work if we'd met sooner. It also took us a while to get in contact with our sixth group member. Upcoming : The assets I made this week were sloppy, untextured placeholders that I intend to improve extensively. I also plan on adding a lot more variety in regards to enemy designs and terrain elements, seeing as the enemies are currently limited to one model, and the terrain assets are only mountains of three varieties.

Personal Postmortem Things that went right: 1:  Group member roles and workloads were typically very well defined and separated. We had very few issues with overlapping or conflicting work. 2: We communicated pretty effectively and easily contacted each other when we needed help or coordination while adding to the game. 3: We all mostly agreed on our vision for the game, and never really had any arguments or disputes regarding how the game should play or look. Things that went wrong: 1: Most of our work happened 1-2 days before the due date, and sometimes we'd even be patching bugs and getting things working mere minutes before class started. 2: Though we met on most weekends, we only planned our work during those meetings. We actually DID the work separately, only to meet right before class and compile it all at the last minute. 3: Sometimes features that were largely complete wouldn't make it in the week that we'd made them because we'd encounter a bug or ...
